Fat Injections |

Fat injections, sometimes
referred to as fat transfer, are used to fill in wrinkles
around the mouth, to fill in some scars and even to increase
the size of buttocks. This is a process in which a person’s
own fat is taken from one part of the body and injected or
transferred into another part of their body. The great thing
about using your own fat is that there is no possibility of
having an allergic reaction, as is sometimes a factor in using
other types of fillers or collagen. |

If you are considering
liposuction to a part of your body, that same fat can then be
used to fill in the “parenthesis” around your mouth, plump up
your lips or even plump up your buttocks. This is a more
permanent solution to these problem areas, where other types
of injectables are temporary. Some parts of the body are off
limits to fat injections though, such as the breasts.
Injecting fat into the breasts, for example, instead of using
breast implants, can make it more difficult to detect breast
cancer with mammograms. If you want fat injections without a
formal liposuction, the fat can be taken out with a syringe,
fluids removed and then reinjected to the desired area. This,
of course, can be done to fill in small areas only.
Multiple injections over a period of months may be necessary,
but the results will last for several years. The treated area
will be swollen for several days and there may be some
bruising, but make up can be applied to help disguise this. |
