Ear surgery generally takes
about two or three hours, or around 90 minutes per ear. During
surgery, incisions are made just behind the ear, in the
natural fold where the ear meets the side of the head, to
minimize the visibility of scars. The desired correction is
performed identically on both ears, and the incisions are then
stitched together.
RECOVERING FROM THIS SURGERY
Post-procedure, the ears may ache for a few days. This
temporary pain can be easily alleviated by medication. If you
sleep on your side, your sleeping patterns maybe disrupted for
a week or so because you are not able to put any pressure on
the ear areas. To ensure the best molding and healing, the
head is usually wrapped in dressing immediately following the
surgery. Within a few days you will be able to remove these
bandages and replace them with a thinner headband or dressing.
Stitches are removed, or will dissolve, in about a week. Any
activity which puts strain on the ears should be avoided for a
month or so. |
